This is a dictionary of Western Abenaki, a language of the Algonquian family spoken by the Abenakis whose homes are Odanak, Quebec and the Missiquoi region of the Champlain Valley.

The dictionary was compiled from data collected between and from 38 speakers. It includes a pronunciation guide, an explanation of grammatical terms, a list of Abenaki root. This book is a collection of articles featuring the Algonquin people.

The Algonquin, whose population number 7, occupy today the Ottawa valley and the Abitibi-Temiscamingue region in Quebec. Nine authors have written as many essays dealing with different traditional and contemporary issues. Marc Cote begins with an article on Abitibi-Temiscamingue prehistory.
